FAQ
Shopify Plus FAQ
Every Shopify project starts with a few of the same questions: what will it cost, how long will it take, and what happens to my store when changes are made? These are fair concerns, and we hear them from nearly every client we work with.
What is the difference between Shopify and Shopify Plus?
+
Basic, Grow and Advanced Shopify plans support online retail and native B2B selling. Shopify Plus adds capabilities for more complex operations, including unlimited B2B market catalogs, catalogs assigned directly to individual companies or locations, advanced B2B payment options, additional checkout customization and expansion stores.
When should a Canadian brand upgrade to Shopify Plus?
+Consider Shopify Plus when your business needs capabilities beyond what Basic, Grow or Advanced can support—for example, company-specific wholesale catalogs, more than three active B2B market catalogs, advanced B2B payment options, additional checkout customization or expansion stores.
What are the costs of Shopify Plus compared to standard Shopify?
+
Shopify Plus starts at US$2,300 per month on a three-year contract, or US$2,500 per month on a one-year term. Standard Shopify plans cost US$39 to US$399 per month, billed monthly.
Across our builds on both platforms, we've seen the math flip at scale. Plus lowers transaction fees, replaces several paid apps with built-in features, and automates manual work. For high-volume brands, lower transaction fees on Plus can cover a good part of the higher monthly cost.
Does Shopify Plus handle B2B and wholesale features better than standard Shopify?
+
Yes, for complex wholesale operations. Since April 2026, all Shopify plans include core B2B features: company profiles, payment terms, volume pricing, and up to three catalogs. Shopify Plus adds unlimited catalogs, price lists assigned to specific companies and locations, and deposits or partial payments on wholesale orders.
If you manage four or more price lists or a hybrid DTC-wholesale model, Plus is the better fit. We set up both, and build custom logic when your B2B workflow goes beyond the defaults.
Can you customize the checkout on Shopify Plus?
+
Yes. Shopify Plus lets you customize the information, shipping, and payment steps, along with advanced checkout branding. Standard Shopify plans limit customization to basic styling and the thank-you and order-status pages. On Plus, we can add custom fields, build advanced discount logic, or tailor checkout for loyalty programs, B2B buyers, or upsells.
Can you integrate ERP, CRM, or custom systems with Shopify Plus?
+
Yes. We’ve integrated Shopify Plus with everything from enterprise ERPs to homegrown CRMs
and custom fulfillment systems. The key difference with Plus is the higher API limits and
flexibility—it’s built to connect with the rest of your stack.
Our team has handled setups where orders flow straight into ERP, customer data syncs to CRM,
and marketing tools pull from a single source of truth. When an off-the-shelf app won’t cut
it, we build the integration ourselves. The goal is simple: your systems talk to each other
without adding manual steps for your team.
Will I lose SEO rankings if I migrate to Shopify Plus?
+
You don’t have to lose rankings when migrating to Shopify Plus. The risk of ranking drops increases when URLs aren’t mapped, redirects are missed or important content gets left behind. We manage migrations with SEO at the front, not as an afterthought, checking important pages and redirects before launch to help protect your rankings and traffic. Temporary fluctuations can still occur, so we monitor search performance afterward.
How do you use AI to improve Shopify Plus stores?
+
We’ve been building on Shopify for over 10 years, and AI has become a big part of how we
approach Plus projects today. We use it to handle the jobs that slow teams down—checking
orders for issues, triggering alerts when something looks off, or automating repeat tasks
that usually eat up hours.
On the customer side, we apply AI to improve the buying experience. That can mean search
that gets better the more it’s used, product recommendations that adjust to buying patterns,
or testing tools that show us exactly where shoppers drop off. We don’t add AI for the sake
of it—we use it where it saves time or helps the store convert better.
Do you provide ongoing support after a Shopify Plus launch or migration?
+
Yes. Launching the store is only the start—keeping it fast, secure, and converting well
takes ongoing work. Over the past 10+ years, we’ve seen this play out with almost every
project. About 90% of the brands we launch on Shopify Plus choose to keep us on for
maintenance and growth.
That usually includes performance checks, CRO testing, SEO upkeep, and adding new features
as their business evolves. The reason is simple: Shopify Plus works best when it’s actively
managed, and most teams don’t have the time or resources to do that in-house.
Is there a Shopify Plus agency in Canada?
+Yes — eCommerce Development Pros is a Shopify Plus partner agency based in Toronto and Ottawa, serving Canadian and US brands. We specialize exclusively in Shopify, including Plus builds, B2B configuration, migrations, and ongoing growth support for enterprise stores.
